Friends & Fans for St. Jude was organized to bring together local music artists and their fans in an effort to raise money and awareness for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Our first event was held in 2006 in conjunction with a Fan Appreciation Party hosted by City Limits Band with invited guest, Saturday Nite Special. The success of that program inspired a smaller event later that year, where musicians from different genres of music joined together for a wonderful night of entertainment for a great cause. Through their inspiration, Friends & Fans for St. Jude continued after City Limits Band disbanded in 2007.
In 2010, Friends & Fans for St. Jude oartnered with the paranormal community, exhibiting at special events with the theme, “Raising Spirits for St. Jude.” The campaign became even broader in 2012, when we expanded our efforts into the horror community.
Friends & Fans for St. Jude continues to grow stronger throughout central Illinois and beyond. As listed on our calendar for 2013, a number of activities have been planned, culminating with our annual event - which this year will be Jingle Jam V for St. Jude, December 1, 2013, at Erin’s Pavilion in Springfield.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Located in Memphis, St. Jude is a world premier center for research and treatment of catastrophic diseases in children, primarily pediatric cancers. About 4,700 patients are seen yearly, and St. Jude has treated children from all 50 states and more than 70 foreign countries. St. Jude is the only pediatric research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay. Visit the St. Jude website at www.stjude.org.
Jingle Jam returned for its fourth year on December 2, marking the seventh year Friends & Fans for St. Jude has been bringing together Central Illinois’ finest musicians in support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. We wish to thank all of the volunteers, musicians, and sponsors who contributed, making 2012 a banner year for Friends & Fans. We will be presenting our biggest check ever during the Neuhoff Media radiothon on February 21-22, so be sure to tune in locally to 104.5 WFMB, 99.7 KISS-FM or Decatur’s 95Q.
